Happy New Year!
And thus ends another round of year-end fundraising emails! Are your inboxes tired? I would like to thank everyone who contributed – we surpassed our fundraising goals! YAY! Thank you one and all!
So – now it’s time for us to get to work.
I am always one for hope.
The number of issues we face may seem overwhelming, and often it feels as though there is nothing we can do. But luckily there are lots of things we can each do to make a big difference.
Part of the strategy we are up against is called “flood the zone”, where the goal is to start so many fires that we are overwhelmed by where to start and end up giving up. But we aren’t giving up. Pick your meme/inspirational quote – but any action we take anywhere makes a difference. It shows that we are not giving up. By taking action you also inspire others to create change.
And boy howdy do we have things for you to do:
Learn all about all these fires on our Let’s Get to Work Page. And then more importantly, pick one of our featured actions to start to make real change in your community.

Additionally, the Georgia General Assembly is kicking this month and we are ready. We have our 2025-26 GA General Assembly Priorities and Legislation Monitoring all set up. The 2026 session is a continuation of 2025 – and our main priority is still “To encourage growth for all Georgians, our priorities rest on the fundamental tenet of transparent and inclusive decision making.”
That means focusing on
- Making data centers good neighbors
- The rising cost of power and continued unwise focus on fossil fuels
- Preventing and addressing the disproportionate impacts of environmental health burdens
And, in general, making sure that science has a seat at the table.
Thanks for showing up, speaking up, and being involved. Onwards to a great 2026!
