Feb 25 – Fantastic!

Whew! February may have been short on days, but we packed in enough for two or three months of action.

The month started off with an exciting Climate Survival Training about weaving living structures.

We had two community centered events sponsored by our friends at Emory CHART.
1. In South DeKalb: assembling a worm composter. Composting using worms is a win, win, win – you keep food waste out of landfills, you create amazing compost for your garden, and worms are cool!
2. With our friends Southside Environmental Justic Association in S. Fulton: assembling an Emergency Preparedness kits. Its a good idea to be prepared in case of a severe storm or other disaster.

We hosted a workshop on combating misinformation. Where we learned that it is important to be compassionate about others’ points of view and to approach all conversations with a willingness to learn.

Huge thank you to Sci4Ga staff Michael Czajkowski and Frankie Green for stepping outside the box and teaching these workshops!

Speaking of outside the box – our 2025 science comedy trainees performed at their first ever Jazz Hands event. Huge thank you to Wild Heaven, Steel Freak, and all of you for making that a wild success.

Legislative News

The Georgia General Assembly is in full swing. We’ve been down there to speak up for science and advocate.

There are several bills that we have been watching and created informational rubrics on. You can check out what is going on our 2025-26 GA General Assembly Legislation Monitoring page.

There are many bills that would increase transparency and provide information about resources in our state – including around power transmission and PFAS contamination.
