Sine Die? Not Us! April 2026 was in Full Swing

The Georgia General Assembly may have adjourned in the wee hours of Apr 3rd sine die (without a day) to reconvene – but we sure kept on convening at Science for Georgia!

Heck – while the General Assembly was busy not passing any bills that could positively impact the health or environment of Georgia – Sci4Ga was busy kicking off its first monthly “Sips of Science.”

Before I talk about all the cool things we did in April – let’s take a quick look at upcoming things –

June 11 & 12 – our Fifth Annual Environmental Justice and Climate protection conference. YAY! 5 years of bringing communities, policymakers, and academics together to move the needle on improving environmental health for all of Georgia (humans, plants, animals, air, water, soil). Please join us!

So what did we do in April?

It was Earth Month. Patrick gave a speech at a GIPL event, Michael and Amy chatted with community members at an ArtsXchange event, and Jessica attending a book release.

People learned about fixing their breaks and tying some knots at TWO Climate Survival Trainings, Sci4Ga participated in some community engaged research, and our friends in Athens hosted a fantastic Energy and Environment Mayoral Candidate Forum.

On the training side – our fabulous Dept of Decision Science Capstone students shared their work, and our MPH interns got 3rd place at a UGA Poster competition.

Also- we gave some talks on Data Centers. Cause that is what we do.
