We have been losing public science research that belongs to all of us. Join the Partnership for Public Service and Dr. Barney Graham as they explore the collaborations, advances, and victories that come with keeping science public.
The Partnership will also share their new federal science impact tracker. This new interactive resource from the Partnership for Public Service combines data and storytelling to illustrate the federal government’s essential role in advancing U.S. health and science and highlights what’s at stake as agencies face significant reductions.
Speaker Name: Barney Graham, M.D., Ph.D.
Speaker Bio: Barney S. Graham is an infectious diseases physician and scientist. He has a BA from Rice University, MD from the University of Kansas, and PhD from Vanderbilt University. He retired as Deputy Director of the NIAID Vaccine Research Center in 2021 and is now Professor and Director of the David Satcher Global Health Equity Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. He is an inventor of vaccines and monoclonal antibodies approved for human use to prevent or treat RSV, COVID-19, and Ebola. He has authored >550 scientific publications and is an elected member of the National Academies of Sciences, Medicine, and Inventors. He is an inductee of the National Inventors Hall-of-Fame and has received multiple awards for the advancement of science. Time magazine recognized him as one of the world’s 100 most influential individuals and a Hero of the Year in 2021 and as one of the 100 most influential in health in 2024.
