A Joyfully Jubilant July!

Fresh off our success at the EJ&CP, we allowed ourselves a little break at the beginning of July for some fireworks and apple pie. And then we were right back into it.

On July 11th we had our inaugural Membership Meeting. It was great to meet some awesome members of the community. The purpose of this informal monthly meeting is to share ways to get involved with Sci4Ga, hear about happenings and activities around the state, and celebrate our fabulous volunteers and catalyzers. We hope you’ll join us for the next meeting on Aug 8th.

Mushrooms are popular! Even tough it poured right before the event, over 40 people showed up to a Climate Survival Training at Unearthing Farms to learn about growing their own mushrooms from Xander. While we learned about logs, spores, and the lifecycle, there were pigs and bunnies doing their thing at the farm! Also, really appreciate that Xander encouraged people not to forage for wild mushrooms without an experienced, human, guide.

Our final event of the month was a Georgia Science Junction about water infrastructure. Timely given the events of the past few months in Atlanta and elsewhere around Georgia.

I want to give a shout-out to our fabulous summer interns here at Sci4Ga. They’ve been doing a great job pulling together data stories, toolkits, video recaps, the EJ&CP conference, and an upcoming food summit. I cannot wait to brag about all their work in the August newsletter.

In the meantime, as summer draws to a close, we look forward to seeing you all at several upcoming events:
