Georgia! Take Action on Solar!
The Georgia Homegrown Solar Act (HB 507) is a bright opportunity to lower bills with clean, homegrown energy by letting Georgians buy into shares of mid-size “community solar” arrays.
This is important – because many cannot install their own solar (too much shade, don’t own their home) – but this provides access for everyone. Solar for all!
Please help put this 2025 bill back in motion by reaching out to the Chair of Georgia’s House Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee. He is Representative Don Parsons of Marietta. Please click here to find his email address and phone number. You can leave a message like the following with his staff or on voice mail.
“Please allow HB 507, the Homegrown Solar Act, to receive a hearing and move forward in the Energy Committee. By letting Georgians like me buy into what could be hundreds of mid-sized solar projects, this Act would increase electricity supply, lowering costs for all Georgians.”
If you live in south Cherokee or north Cobb County, you may be in Rep. Parsons’ 44th district and you can mention that in your call. You can find your legislator here and here is a district map.

HB 1304 – This bill allows for the use of certified portable solar devices. Electric generation devices below 1,200 watts are exempt from interconnection requirements – meaning that individuals can set up the solar generator, plug it in, and enjoy solar power. Service providers cannot enact criteria on their use. Liability is limited, and sale of electricity coming from these devices is prohibited. Rubic. Introduced.
