SUMMARY:ASF: A Scoop of Science
DESCRIPTION:  \nA Scoop of Science ticketing opens January 25th! \nWe all scream for ice cream! But have you ever really thought about what it is? A liquid? A solid? A glass? Ice cream has more in common with toothpaste\, froth\, and glass than you might expect. Join physicists Daniel Sussman and Michael Czajkowski for an exploration of the physics of disordered solids\, and answers to the questions you never knew to ask about ice cream. We promise the only brain freeze will come from the ice cream\, not from the science! Ticket price includes ice cream following the event! \nAtlanta Science Festival ticketing opens January 25th! \nGet your tickets here!

SUMMARY:Monthly South River Water Testing - March
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday\, March 15\, 2026 \nTime: 10 am \nLocation: Everett Park \nAddress: 5106 Klondike Rd\, Stonecrest\, GA 30038 \nWe will linger in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before heading down the trail along the water to those first shoals\, where we will be doing our testing and mingling etc…. \nAt our Environmental Justice Forums/Townhalls we heard that people want to know more about what health risks from water and air are in their neighborhoods. So we have started on two approaches to that. First is the water testing project mentioned above. Adopt-A-Stream is a state program consisting of volunteers collecting data on the water sources in their neighborhoods and the area around Everett Park along the South River is not represented in this testing project. So we are getting this started\, not just to gather and monitor data\, but to help the community learn about water testing along the way.

SUMMARY:Red Wiggler Wrangling – DIY Worm Farming
DESCRIPTION:Ready to befriend some of Earth’s most hardworking (and surprisingly adorable) little recyclers? Join us for a hands-on worm-farming adventure! RSVP to snag one of only 15 worm-farm kits (one per family/group) during this combo mini-lecture and interactive workshop. \nClick here to register via the Atlanta Science Festival Website.  \nWorm farming\, also known as vermiculture\, uses special composting worms that can turn kitchen scraps into rich\, garden-ready nutrients up to three times faster than a traditional compost pile\, all with less effort. We’ll be spotlighting our superstar species\, the humble Red Wiggler: resilient\, low-maintenance\, and perfectly content living quietly indoors or outside. \nPlease wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy. If you’re concerned about transporting your new worm system home\, feel free to bring a towel or tarp.
