SUMMARY:GSJ: Data Mapping: Data Visualizations That Tell a Story
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 15th\, 7-9 pm \nIn-Person and Streaming \nLocation: Mutation Brewing Co\, 5825 Roswell Rd NE\, Sandy Springs\, GA 30328 \nFeatured Speaker: Dr Michael Czajkowski and Emory QTM Students \n  \nData mapping can be a powerful tool to share information. Sci4Ga’s Data for Georgia program has developed several story maps in service of various Georgia communities. Learn what we have discovered\, ways to use this information to take action\, and how you can get involved. \n  \nHow much is deforestation causing increased flood risk? \nCould a power plant near you be affecting your health and quality of life? \nIs your community facing health risks due to poor water quality? \n  \nWe have some answers to these important questions. Students in the Quantitative Theory and Methods program have been working under the guidance of Data for Georgia (our data science branch) to answer these questions through the creation of data stories. What’s a data story? That just means a story we are telling you by presenting you with data visualizations. Data you can go home and click around and explore yourself. Pretty cool right? If you want to find out about how much these issues are affecting you and your neighbors\, then come see their presentations on April 15th at Mutation Brewing Co! \n  \nGSJ Data Mapping
