Bringing Precision to Medicine – How We Work to Personalize Treating Disease
Since the advent of targeted therapies and advanced diagnostics tools to better match treatments to patients and their disease, we have seen rapid changes in the way we identify therapies to best suit a patient’s individual makeup. However, we still have a long way to go to find 100% accurate “biomarkers” that can best determine if specific treatments will save a particular life. In this talk, Dr. Schlicher discusses the history and development of personalized diagnostics and targeted therapies, with a focus on projects to which she contributed that are both part a current part of patient care and potentially becoming new techniques to save lives.
